Non-Verbal Memories

My Dog in Dream

I had a dream of my deceased dog. I was standing a backdoor of a house, seemingly I live there. I could see a back gate, beyond which a few people were standing. When I walked to the back gate, my dog was coming near. When the people outside the gate tried to enter, I quickly hold my dog in my arms. Immediately I get the feeling of the dog, I awoke.

Sense of Touch

When I was awake, I was surprised to find the sense of touch. I clearly remembered that I felt the touch of my dog which is a bit prickly and moist. Curiously, I could not recreate the sense of touch when I was awake.

It seems a large share of human memory cannot be recalled intentionally, which is not only verbal information such as memorized facts in history class, but also non-verbal information such as touch, color, smell etc. I was wondering how such a sheer amount of information is saved in my brain.

Make-Up

Meanwhile, I also got interested in the house, which I have never lived or even visited. Some parts of the house seemed to have seen before though, the house was entirely made up in my brain subtly.

My brain makes up such space regardless of my willingness when I take rest. Why on earth, did my brain do such a thing?

Origin of Spoken Words

Through this experience, I presumed that whenever we think about something, we may relate such memories unconsciously. Even when I talk, we may base our origin of opinion making on this sort of memories. When it comes to conversation, we tend to focus on the spoken words, or sort of text information. However, the origin of spoken words may equally be interesting. It seems difficult to catch a glimpse of non-verbal memories. Nevertheless, if we can make ripples in the spring-like storage of memories, we may be able to have a different set of spoken words. ■
